Garage Sale Trail is back and bigger than ever!

Indigo Closet Joins the 2024 Garage Sale Trail: Two Weekends of Sustainable Shopping Fun!

Australia’s beloved Garage Sale Trail is back for 2024, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever! If you love finding unique, pre-loved treasures, or if you’re looking to declutter and make some extra cash, this is the event for you. Running over two huge weekends—November 9-10 and November 16-17, 2024—the Garage Sale Trail will see over 3 million pre-loved items find new homes across the nation. With more than 80 councils already involved, alongside support from the NSW EPA and the Queensland Government, this year's event is set to involve 500,000 people and transform the way Australians think about shopping and sustainability.

Here at Indigo Closet, we’re thrilled to be part of the action! We pride ourselves on offering carefully curated, pre-loved designer clothing that is in excellent condition, and the Garage Sale Trail is a perfect match for our ethos of sustainable fashion and mindful shopping. Not only is this event a fantastic opportunity for our community to discover some unique fashion finds, but it’s also a great way to support the circular economy and reduce waste. Whether you're a dedicated thrifter or new to second-hand shopping, this event is the ideal time to refresh your wardrobe, score a designer-label bargain, and do your bit for the environment.

Why Participate in the Garage Sale Trail?

In 2023, the Garage Sale Trail was a massive success, with over 419,000 Australians either selling or shopping at more than 14,000 garage sales across the country. Together, they saved over 4.8 million kilograms of items from landfill, giving these preloved treasures a second life. The event is a shining example of how we can all make a difference by shopping more mindfully and choosing second-hand over new. With so many of us feeling the pinch from the rising cost of living, there's never been a better time to embrace the circular economy. By participating in the Garage Sale Trail, not only can you make some extra money by selling items you no longer need, but you can also save money by finding unique, high-quality pieces at bargain prices.

Here at Indigo Closet, our boutique is a haven for fashion lovers who care about sustainability and style. We sell preloved women’s designer-label clothing from brands such as Country Road, Zimmermann, Sass and Bide, Trenery, SEED, Tree Of Life, Jaase, and many more. Every item we offer is carefully checked for quality and condition, ensuring that you only receive the very best. The Garage Sale Trail aligns perfectly with our mission to offer preloved fashion in an eco-conscious way, and we’re excited to see what treasures will find new homes during this special event.

Sustainable Fashion for a Better Future

Sustainability is at the heart of the Garage Sale Trail, and it’s a message we hold dear at Indigo Closet. Fast fashion is one of the biggest contributors to landfill, and by choosing to buy preloved clothing, you’re helping to combat that problem. The fashion industry has a huge environmental impact, from the resources used to make new clothes to the waste generated when old items are thrown away. Shopping second-hand is a simple but powerful way to reduce that impact, and events like the Garage Sale Trail make it easy for everyone to get involved.

By extending the life of clothing and other items, you’re not just saving money—you’re also conserving resources and reducing your carbon footprint. It’s a win-win for your wardrobe and the planet! And with the Garage Sale Trail providing a platform for Australians to buy and sell preloved items, we’re collectively making a big difference.

How to Get Involved

There are so many ways to participate in this year’s Garage Sale Trail! Whether you’re looking to sell some of your preloved items or you’re keen to discover some new-to-you treasures, now is the time to start planning. At Indigo Closet, we’ll be showcasing some of our finest preloved designer pieces throughout the event, giving you the chance to refresh your wardrobe with high-quality, sustainable fashion.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Sell your preloved items: If you’ve got clothes, accessories, or other items gathering dust, now is the perfect time to declutter and give them a second life. Host your own garage sale, either at home or online through the Garage Sale Trail website, and turn your unwanted goods into cash.
  • Shop the sales: With over 14,000 garage sales expected across the country, you’re sure to find something unique! Whether you’re looking for a designer piece or a vintage treasure, the Garage Sale Trail is a treasure trove for thrifters.
  • Visit Indigo Closet: We’ll be taking part in the event by offering some of our best preloved designer clothing for sale. Whether you’re already a loyal customer or new to our boutique, we invite you to come and see what we have in store!
